The aim of the Disaster Wing Volunteers of Helping Hands is to support communities during disasters by providing essential aid like food, medicine, shelter, and house repairs.
About the Disaster Relief Wing
The Disaster Relief Wing of Helping Hands is dedicated to assisting communities during crises such as floods, landslides, and pandemics like COVID-19 and NIPAH. Volunteers actively provide essential aid, including food, medicine, shelter, and house repairs, to help affected individuals recover from difficult times.
COVID-19 Relief efforts
During the pandemic, the team operated two COVID care homes for homeless individuals in collaboration with the District Administration, ensuring they received proper care and support.
Support during 2019 landslides
When landslides struck Nilambur and Kavalappara, the team provided immediate relief by distributing food kits and constructing houses for those who lost their homes under the ROOF project of Helping Hands.
Aid during the 2018 floods
In response to one of the most devastating floods that displaced over a million people, the Disaster Relief Wing distributed 11,000 food kits to affected families, ensuring they had access to essential supplies during the crisis.
Through these initiatives, the team continues to extend timely support, helping disaster-stricken communities rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
